PEA RIDGE -- Pea Ridge used a 22-1 run that spanned the second and third periods and Westin Church scored 14 points as the Blackhawks defeated Prairie Grove 57-29 in a 4A-1 Conference game Tuesday night.

Pea Ridge led 16-14 with 5:50 left in the first half and the Blackhawks closed out the half with a 14-1 run for a 30-15 lead. Church hit two three-pointers and scored nine points during the first-half closing run.

The Blackhawks (20-3, 9-1) then opened the second half with a 8-0 run for a commanding 38-15 lead. Cole Wright was also in double figures for Pea Ridge with 13 points.

"Westin is just a scorer," said Pea Ridge Coach Trent Loyd. "Westin has so much confidence, and these kids have so much confidence in each other."

Prairie Grove, which led 12-11 at the end of the first period, went 9 minutes, 55 seconds between field goals during the Pea Ridge run. Nick Ellis led the Tigers (3-19, 2-9) with seven points.

Loyd credited the defense for keeping the run going.

"This group has just been defending their tails off," Loyd said. "When our defensive pressure gets going, the next thing you know we are running a little bit and the shots start falling."
