Raccoon Causes Power Outage

— About 4,500 AEP-Swepco customers in Fayetteville lost power for “a couple of hours” Saturday night, according to a spokeswoman for the power company.

The outage was caused by a raccoon on a power line at a substation, the spokeswoman said.

Animals are in the top five causes of power outages, according to power company officials.
