Apple Test at Root Elementary

Kindergarden, first, and second graders from Root Elementary in Fayetteville tried slices of Stellar, Arkansas Black, and Granny Smith apples Tuesday morning and voted on their favorite kind during a event to celebrate National Farm to School Month. The event was the first of nine apple tastings at schools throughout the district. National Farm to School Month encourages a partnership between local farms and schools with the goal of improving healthy meals and nutrition in schools, increasing opportunities for health, nutrition and agriculture education and support for local farming.
