County May Require Microchips For Dogs
Your county should offer your residents the option of a microchip or a tattoo on the inside of the right hind leg of the dog. Chips do move. I am a breed specific rescue and have found chips have migrated to the base of the tail as well as down near an elbow. There are a small number of cases where injection site sarcomas have developed and in the case of one Chihuahua that was chipped, per City of Los Angeles requirement, the dog bled to death right there in front of the owners. Offer a choice. National Dog Registry is the largest registry for tattoos and is very efficient and an equally accurate means of tracking a dog's owner.
