Landscaper Fined For Hiring Illegal Immigrants

Allow me to say that the owners of this company have gone to great lengths with benevolent acts that may never be obvious to the general public. I, for one, am one who has benefited from their generosity during a very difficult time in my life.

Although opinions are like rear ends, and we all have one, I personally disagree with the PERSONALIZED attack upon these folks. Attacking the person rather than the issue is somewhat of a "Red Herring," (for those commentors who might choose to research the use of critical thinking rather than emotion when proffering opinions.)

As for the illegal immigration issue itself, I offer this background and observation: I am a white, middle-aged female who has a background in ESL education. Additionally, I am a former resident of El Paso, Texas, Waco, Texas, South Florida, and Kentucky. I could present an entire thesis paper about the strength of the Hispanic work ethic over the work ethic of MOST caucasian or other ethnicities. Conversely, I do not believe that American communications should have to be written in multiple languages. Hence, rather than simply griping and complaining, I earned my ESL credentials to try and make any difference -- no matter how small -- in assisting English Language Learners in our society.

After all, unless your ancestors were residing with the Native Americans when western civilization began, we are ALL immigrants, or products of the same.

Putting A Stop To Red-Light Runners

I agree, jhoover. The significance of this whole thing is that it happens at least once or more times a week, usually in the mornings. The worst offenders have been women on cell phones driving SUV's or minivans, but not exclusively women! At least twice, a motorist has stopped for the bus and the motorist behind him/her HONKED at the stopped car that was obeying the law!
