Astin signs with Brewers
Arkansas pitcher Barrett Astin has signed a contract and been assigned to the Milwaukee Brewers’ rookie league team in Helena, Mont. Astin, a junior right-hander from Forrest City, was a third-round draft pick by the Brewers (90th overall) on Friday. He was 4-4 with 1 save this season. Astin posted a 1.79 ERA whle making 14 starts and 4 relief appearances. As a sophomore, he was used as the Razorbacks’ closer and had 11 saves. Brewers amateur scouting director Bruce Seid told MLB.com that Milwaukee plans to use Astin as a starter. “He’s got a good delivery and everything seems to work,” Seid said. “The ingredients are there for him to be a pretty good starter for us.” Continue reading...
