White bass on Beaver Lake
Summertime and the fishing is easy. That is, if you're fishing for white bass with jigging spoons at Beaver Lake. White bass travel in schools and can be caught during summer and fall with jigging spoons around long gravel points and flats 20 to 35 feet deep. Locate a school of white bass with a depth finder and the fishing can be fast and furious. Keith Brashers owns War Eagle Custom Lures in Rogers and put his brand of jigging spoons to the test at Beaver Lake on Aug. 9. He and outdoors reporter Flip Putthoff caught about 50 white bass from 1 to 3 pounds in the Rocky Branch area. Staff photos by Flip Putthoff.
