Barbara A. Massey, age 89 of Rogers, Ark., formerly a resident of Pine Bluff for 58 years, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018. She was born July 16, 1929, in Oak Grove, Louisiana to the late John Wiley and Alma Sanders Aaron. She received her early education in Oak Grove and grew up on a farm in the depression years where her family raised cotton to support their family. In 1948 she met and married the only man she ever loved, Odell Massey, and they shared a life of 65 years together until his death in 2013. She was a homemaker most of her adult life but after raising her family, she ventured outside the home to work at the Children's Daycare Center of Southside Baptist Church followed by Wal-Mart Stores for 11 years. She was affectionately known as Nanny to her grandchildren and great-grands but also to many children she cared for in her late years. She was known for the best Thanksgiving dressing and you could never leave her home without drinking a big glass of her famous sweet tea. She was baptized at Centennial Baptist Church of Pine Bluff and later became a member of Southside Baptist Church. After the death of her husband, she moved to Rogers, Ark. to be near her daughter where she has resided the last five years. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Bernon Aaron; a sister, Dorothy Wilson; and a great-grandson, Tyler Martinez. She is survived by her son, Steve Massey (Pat) of Conway; her daughters, Beverly Bridwell (Benny) of Rogers; Linda Jackson of Little Rock; Connie Massey of Conway; and Denise Hufford (Jim) of Pine Bluff; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Patterson of Oak Grove, Louisiana and Mary Sanders of Bastrop, Louisiana; and numerous extended family.
