William Mueller "Bill" Robey

William Mueller "Bill" Robey, 87, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, Sept. 10th, 2018 at Innisfree Nursing and Rehab. He was born March 8th, 1931 in Washington D.C. to Teresa Mueller Robey and William Nemar Robey. He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute High School in 1949, and went on to earn a degree in Civil Engineering in 1954 from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. He served as a second lieutenant in the Air Force Reserves. In 1955, he married Valerie Davies in Dewitt, N.Y. Bill practiced as a Registered Professional Engineer doing design fabrication and construction management work on largely nuclear, plate steel and petrochemical projects throughout the United States and overseas. Upon retirement, Bill and Val moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where Bill was an active member of St. Theodore's Episcopal Church and a volunteer in Crime Watch. Bill was an Eagle Scout and as an assistant scoutmaster saw both his sons earn their Eagle rank, as did his grandson many years later. He never could sit still and was always busy fixing things. He enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, fishing and boating. He spent his early years at Indian Landing on the Severn River near Annapolis, Md., and sailing canoes. In later years he lived on a river in New Jersey, and lakes in Minnesota and Arkansas and once built a homemade ice boat. Bill especially enjoyed racing sailboats – particularly when his slower Sunfish sailboat handled the heavy winds better than his opponent's catamarans which sometimes led to the catamarans somersaulting end over end. He enjoyed fishing from his pontoon boat and kayaking with Val on Lake Rayburn. Bill took his children and grandchildren on many wonderful adventures, and is remembered by them with great love and affection. He was a kind and generous man who will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Valerie Davies Robey; twin sons, Bob and Tom Robey of Los Alamos and Santa Fe, N.M., respectively; Bob's wife, Peggy and five grandchildren, Lee and Sarah Henry and Jonathan, Rachel and Lynn Robey. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sue Henry of Coppell, Texas. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church in Bella Vista with The Reverend William M. Lowry III officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers. www.stockdale-moodyfs.com.
