Ethel Pauline Pettus died at the age of 98 years, 6 months and 19 days on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at Walnut Grove Nursing Center, Springdale, Ark. Ethel was born to Floyd Ellis Frost and Ethel (Kitty) Hood Frost on Mar 21, 1920 in Haleyville, Ala. She united in marriage with Samuel Lamar (Pat) Pettus Jr. on September 10, 1938. Ethel spent most of her adult life in St. Francis County in the New Castle Community, moving her residence to Northwest Arkansas after suffering a stroke in Mar 2008. Ethel was a retired farmer and line supervisor at Lerner Sloan Sewing Factory in Forrest City. She was a devoted 60 plus year member of Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church and the beloved matriarch of her extended family and community of friends. She is survived by her children: Patricia J. (Patsy) Wise and husband Frank of Horseshoe Bend; Ellis Lamar Pettus and wife Donna of Fayetteville, Rev. Dr. L. Glenn Pettus of Wynne, two sisters, Betty Jo Paigen of Oregon, Ill and Bobbie Jean Burnetti of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and life-long friends. Ethel is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Samuel L. (Pat) Pettus; four brothers who died as children: Troy, Floyd Ellis Jr., Lonnie, and Lewis Frost; four adult brothers: Robert, Roy, Chester and Jimmy Frost; one infant sister, Mary; three adult sisters: Floye George, Lois Miller, and Edith Laws and a daughter in law Eva Horton Pettus. A Celebration of Life will be held at Stevens Funeral Home, Forrest City, Ark. at 10 a.m. Saturday, 20 October, 2018. with Rev. Dr. L. Glenn Pettus officiating.
