W.D. "Bill" Vernon, 95 year old resident of Siloam Springs, died on October 9, 2018 in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born on April 27, 1923 in Bedford, Indiana, to A.C. Vernon and Hazel Hyslope Vernon. Bill was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of World War II. He married Irene Willms in Geneseo, Kansas on October 6, 1946. Bill was the owner and operator of Crystal Beauty Salon in El Dorado, Kansas and Vernon's School of Cosmetology in Wichita, Kansas. Bill and Irene moved to Siloam Springs in 1977 and were members of First Presbyterian Church in Siloam Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Irene Vernon; his parents, four brothers, one sister, and a granddaughter. He is survived by five daughters, Vaudine Maddux and husband Terry of Ellsworth, Kansas, Carla Molhoek and husband Will of Haysville, Kansas, Pat Mauzey and husband Kenny of Arkansas City, Kansas, Marsha Vernon of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Colleen Jones and husband Ward of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wanda Stark and Jeanette Vanus of Bloomington, Indiana. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Siloam Springs with Pastor Jonathan Buisch officiating.
