Joseph "Joe" Thomas Smith

Joseph "Joe" Thomas Smith, 77 year old resident of Gentry, Arkansas, died on July 29, 2018 at his home. Born on July 10, 1941 in Titusville, Florida, he was the son of Aulcie Smith and Augusta McAbee Smith. Joe moved to the Cherokee City area in the early 1950's. He married Janice Elaine True on March 5, 1962 in Jay, Oklahoma. Joe worked as a farmer, running a dairy for over 40 years, before deciding to take it easy and raise turkeys. He was a member of the Colcord Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Smith; son, Tom Smith; brother, Anthony; and three sisters, Katherine, Esther, and Frieda. He is survived by two children, Rob Smith and wife Sandy of Gentry, and Sandra Smith of Gentry; daughter-in-law, Patricia Smith of Jay, Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Cody Smith and Leslie; Kali Rivera and Murrell, Perry Sullins and Ashley, Dakota Smith, and Katie Smith; six great grandchildren: Clay, Sarah, Levi, Easton, Olivia, and Priscilla; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Colcord Church of Christ with Mr. Mike Ellis and Pastor Mark Rotramel officiating. Burial will follow at Dickson Cemetery in Cherokee City, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
