Jay R. Shastid

Jay R. Shastid, a longtime resident of Bentonville, passed away on January 27, 2018. He was born on July 25, 1925 in Rogers to the late John Roy and Gertie Mae Shastid. Jay was a Navy veteran who served his country during WWII. Throughout his life he worked several different jobs, but his true love was farming. He was also an avid Razorbacks fan and attended many games with his wife, Emma. Survivors include his children, Dale Shastid (wife Diane), Waydeane Shastid; grandchildren, Andrew Albers (wife Heather), Ray Shastid (wife Amy), Carrie Shastid, Michael Shastid; great-grandchildren, Alexis Albers, Cassie Moore, Colby Shastid, Jacob Shastid, Taylor Shastid; brother-in-law, Bill Broughton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; young children, Jay Dee Shastid, Linda Diane Shastid; and all of his siblings. All are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Bentonville Church of Christ. Burial will military honors will follow in Rogers Cemetery.
