Michele Kay Curtis (Hofsommer) AKA, "Me Too Hopper Kay", passed away on January 19, 2018. She was born in Fargo, N.D., on August 14, 1967. She leaves behind a husband, Charlie Curtis; daughter, Emma Curtis; father, Gary (Jean) Hofsommer, Portland, Ore.; mother, Carol Hofsommer, Fargo, N.D.; sisters, Stacy (Tom) Koffel, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jennifer Hinnkemeyer, West Fargo, N.D., and dozens of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and her dog, Gabby. Michele attended NDSU and swam for the Bison setting a longstanding record in the 50-yard butterfly. She loved her time in the pool and the camaraderie of her teammates. While attending NDSU she interned for ND Senator, Kent Conrad, in his Washington, DC office after which she developed a lifelong interest in politics. Michele had a long and illustrious 27-year career with Walmart. She started as a jewelry clerk in Fargo and began working her way up through various regional and national positions, ultimately becoming the Senior Manager of Global HR Operations, China, Japan and India. Outside of her career, the absolute center of her world was her daughter, Emma, and husband, Charlie. Nothing made her happier than watching Emma ride horses or swimming and BBQing in their backyard on a hot summer day. They recently moved back to Fargo. Michele had the unique ability to travel the world while simultaneously arranging family gatherings, ensuring that her parents, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews all got together frequently even though they lived in all corners of the country. Family, friends and coworkers will remember Michele as a talented, smart, loving, loyal, funny, kind-hearted soul who was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She will be missed by so many, but we patiently await our glorious reunion with her in heaven. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Hope Lutheran Church, Fargo, N.D. A special fund has been set up to cover Michele's medical expenses. Donations can be made to www.gofundme.com/curtisfamilyfund. Any donations collected above her expenses will be put in a 529 college fund for her daughter, Emma. Online guestbook and video tribute at www.wrightfuneral.com.
