James Presley Thomas, 78, of Huntsville, Arkansas, died January 17, 2018 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born, October 1, 1939 in Aurora, the son of William and Josephine Glenn Thomas. Pres was a member of the Huntsville Church of Christ where he served as Elder since August 5, 1990. He was active in the Madison County Republican Party, and served as a board member of Arkansas Families First Foundation, the Witter/Aurora Fire Department, and the Aurora Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Sue Thomas of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Denise Thomas of Huntsville; Lyndell and Shelly Thomas of Hindsville; and Kenny and Michelle Thomas of Huntsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Mendie and Doug Howerton of Hindsville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Jim Spurlock of Aurora; and Brenda and RD Eaton of Wesley; nine grandchildren, Kris Thomas, Brandon Thomas, Derek Thomas, Lynsey Moats, Macie Howerton, Carlie Howerton, Hallie Howerton, Madisyn Thomas, and Kenndra Thomas; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 20, in the Chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Combs officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Kris Thomas, Brandon Thomas, Derek Thomas, Doug Howerton, Michael Moats, and JC Johnson. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
