Joseph G. "Jodie" Jones, 96, of Bentonville, Ark., died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at Circle of Life Hospice Legacy Village. He was born Aug. 14, 1921 in Watson, Ark. He was a graduate of Watson High School and attended Arkansas A&M College and graduated from the University of Arkansas. Jodie was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.  He was a dedicated conservationist and served 23 years as District Conservationist for the Soil Conservation Service in Benton County. After retirement he served many years on the Benton County Conservation District Board of Directors and was elected to the Arkansas Association of Conservation Directors Hall of Fame. The State Senate also honored him with a citation for his conservation leadership. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and one grandson.  Jodie is survived by his wife Mary Mae of the home; two daughters, Kathy Jones of Bentonville and Lorri Daniels of Fayetteville; one son, Jerry Jones and wife, Judy of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Margaret Jones Bolsterli of Fayetteville, Ark.; two grandsons; one granddaughter; four great grandsons; two great-granddaughters; numerous relatives and friends.  A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Bentonville with the Rev. Dr. Kurt Boggan officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to First United Methodist Church, Bentonville or the Mary Mae Jones Elementary School, Bentonville, or to a charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to thank Jodie's doctors, the staff at the Circle of Life Hospice,  Northwest  Medical  Center, Mercy Hospital, Northwest Home Health, care givers and friends for their care of Jodie.
