Charles Lawler Hamaker, 83, passed away while on vacation in Oslo, Norway on 7 January 2018. His final time was spent surrounded by adoring family. Charles "Charlie" was born on October 21, 1934 in Camden, Arkansas, the only child of Charley D. Hamaker and Lucille L. Hamaker. He graduated high school in Springhill, La. where he was valedictorian and then attended Tulane University on an academic scholarship. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity where he made lifelong friendships that endured through the years with annual reunions and an associated scholarship fund as a tribute to his dedication to his friends and their university.

Charlie graduated Business '56 and Law '58 and was wed on 8 October 1960 in Bastrop, Louisiana to the love of his life, Brooks Ellen Oliver. He practiced law for over 50 years in Monroe both in private practice and as the City Attorney. He was a devoted member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. After retirement, he loved to spend time at Caney Lake with his family and grandchildren who knew him as "Papa".
