Kenneth Eugene Allred

Kenneth Eugene Allred was born on November 27, 1921 in Larue, Arkansas to Reverend O.T. Allred and Pearl (Finn) Allred. Kenneth passed away on January 6, 2018 at Lacoba Homes in Monett at the age of 96 years, 1 month and 11 days. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ervin, Everett and Keith Allred and his wife Jean (Holland) Allred. Kenneth was united in marriage to Emma Jean Holland on May 3, 1946 and they were married for nearly 60 years when Jean passed away in March of 2006. Kenneth is survived by two sons, Gail and wife Joyce Allred of Monett, Jerry and wife Karen Allred of Fayetteville, Arkansas and a daughter, Jacqueline (Jacque) and husband John Cheary, Jr. of Hollister, Missouri; three grandchildren, Shari and husband Brad Young of Monett, Kyle Allred of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Celeste Allred of Monett; two step-grandchildren, John and wife Marci Cheary, III of New York City, New York and Lisa and husband Joel Lockwood of Joplin, Missouri; two great grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Kenneth proudly served in the Coast Guard during World War II as a Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class. After leaving the service, Kenneth spent over 50 years following in the footsteps of his father and grandfathers by working in the grocery business. He worked with Oren Moss as general manager and vice president at Moss IGA Market in Monett. After retiring, Kenneth and Jean spent their golden years fishing several days a week at Grand Lake in Oklahoma. Kenneth enjoyed attending the Monett Senior Center and he was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, which was founded by his father, O.T. Allred. Kenneth's family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the nurses and staff at Lacoba Homes where Kenneth spent the last two years of his life. Their constant professionalism, love, encouragement, and affection will forever be appreciated and remembered. Kenneth's family members will serve as pallbearers. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at First Free Will Baptist Church, Monett. Reverend Ken Dodson and Reverend Ron Allred will be officiating. Interment and military honors will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to First Free Will Baptist Church or to Lacoba Homes in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
