SARA RHEA KROUSE, 94 years old, passed away peacefully at home in Little Rock on February 8, 2018. She was born in Salem, Arkansas on July 24, 1923 to Oscar Rhea and Lula Albright Rhea. She goes to heaven to join her beloved husband, Edwin O. Krouse, who predeceased her in 2004. Sara was born during an era when sacrifice was a part of life and a badge of honor. She grew up in Batesville and attended Arkansas Tech. It was WWll and recruiters were canvassing college campuses for students to go to Washington DC as government employees. She signed up and met her future husband, Ed Krouse in Washington DC. Sara and Ed were married only six weeks when Ed shipped overseas. After his bomber was shot down, he spent the next two years in a German prisoner of war camp. In spite of the fact that they had to be reacquainted when he returned, their marriage survived and lasted 62 years. From 1970 - 78, Sara was the office manager for the Arkansas State Democratic Party. It was an active era, when Rockefeller brought in Republicans, and Pryor, Bumpers, and Clinton were new on the scene. "It was a great time to be involved," she said. She and Ed then founded Radarsonics/South and ran that business from 1978 to retirement in 2002. At that point, Sara set out to enjoy her grandchildren; she was a very generous mother and grandmother. In addition, she was a constant source of support and inspiration to many people and played a pivotal role in the founding and naming of Arkansas Flag and Banner, with her daughter. Sara's parents and husband predeceased her; she is survived by one son Rick Krouse (Angie) of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters Kristin Krouse Lightle (Burney) of Searcy and Kerry McCoy (Grady, III) of Little Rock. She has seven grandchildren, Emily Huminski (Ryan) of Greenville, S.C., Jordan Lightle Bittle (Dale) of Conway, J. B. Lightle IV (Deidre) of Memphis, Meghan Pittman (Alan) of Little Rock, Grady McCoy, IV of Fayetteville, Matthew McCoy of Little Rock and Jack McCoy of Santa Cruz, N.M. Sara has seven great grandchildren that she loved very much, Rhea Ann, Grier and Gemma Bittle, Evelyn Ann and Marshall Alan Pittman and Ben and Alice Huminski. There is no visitation or funeral service plann ed; burial is a private family service at the North Little Rock Veterans Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Arkansas Hospice.
