Ernestine Violet Tedford Power

Ernestine Violet Tedford Power, 87 of Springdale, Ark., passed away on February 16, 2018 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born in the community of Bethlehem in Lonoke County, Ark., on July 11, 1930 to Luther and Golden Tedford. Tena is preceded in death by her brothers Reece, L. E., and Walker Tedford. She is survived by her sons Chuck Power, and wife Stacie of Poulsbo, Wash.; Ken Power, and wife Denise, of Fayetteville, Ark.; Bruce Power, and wife Donna, of Springdale, Ark.; Ted Power, and wife Brenda of Bentonville, Ark.; one niece, Mary Jane Vines Staggs, and husband Ted, of Cabot, Ark.; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Tena attended Ouachita Baptist University where she met the "love of her life", Ralph Power. They moved to Springdale, Ark., in 1953. After raising her children in Springdale she moved to Little Rock, Ark., and worked at Dillard's corporate office for 10 years. She returned to Springdale in 1995 and worked at the Walmart corporate office for several years. Tena was very active in church life. She was the piano player for Temple Baptist Church in Springdale for many years along with other churches throughout her life. She also attended First Baptist Church in Springdale, First Baptist Church in Centerton, and New Hope Fellowship in Springdale. In Tena's younger years she enjoyed bowling and participated in several bowling leagues. She also loved to cook and was always the most entertaining person at the table. She was an extremely caring & humorous person who loved gospel quartet music, attended countless gospel concerts, and was a true Booth Brothers and Gaither Vocal Band groupie!!! Tena moved to Morningside Assisted Living in 2016 where she was loved for her enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoyed her time there. Funeral services will be held at Sisco Funeral Chapel at 10 am Thursday, February 22nd – 705 West Meadow Ave., Springdale, Ark., with interment to follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-7 pm February 21st at Sisco Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Fellowship- House of Hope Rescue Mission-- P.O.
