Gerald "Jerry" Freeman

Gerald "Jerry" Freeman, 79, of Hutchinson Island Florida, formerly of West Scranton and Endicott, New York, died Sunday morning at his summer home at Chapman Lake, Pa. His wife of 57 years is Leona Polansky Freeman. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Paul and June Freeman. A graduate of Scranton Central High School, Keystone University and East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, Jerry received a Master's Degree in Sociology and Economics Education at Cortland University, N.Y. He was Professor of Sociology at State University of New York at Broome in Binghamton for 32 years. Upon retirement he was given the honor of Professor Emeritus. Jerry loved his family, golf and living at Chapman Lake. He was a member of St. Theodore's Episcopal Church, Bella Vista, Arkansas and its choir. Also surviving are his daughter, Krista Smith and son-in-law, Mark Smith of Bentonville; grandson, Parker and granddaughter Claire who were the love of his life. Arrangements are private. Remembrances may be made to NWA Food Bank, Lowell, Arkansas.
