Marianne S. Taber passed away at her home on August 12, 2018. She was born on her family's farm in Windom, Minnesota on June 20, 1927. She was the youngest of six children from Laura Tordsen Soleta and William F. Soleta. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cliff Taber, son, Steven I. Turner, her brothers, Reuben, Merlin, James and Robert Soleta, and sister, Ann Clark. Growing up on a farm she worked hard, but when her chores were finished for the day she and her horse went for long rides out in the countryside. She was an accomplished trick rider, earned money in 4-H for the animals she raised and competed for prizes with her Arts and Crafts projects at the County Fair. Young Marianne had an ear for music and taught herself to play the piano accordion. At 12 she formed a three person band. The trio gained popularity and soon were hired to perform at local dances. When she was 16 she decided she wanted to fly a plane. Marianne received her pilot's license and then joined the Civil Air Patrol in Florida at 17. She retired after 27 years with Pacific Telephone Company in California to help her husband with his Commercial and Custom Home business. Marianne also started breeding and raising Arabian and Morgan horses which had been her dream for many years. Her work ethic was an inspiration to all who knew and admired her. She was ready to lend a hand or help someone financially if there was a need. As a single mother of two she often found it necessary to work a second job. Several summers she worked at night during harvest season for Libby's Canning Company. The most enjoyable "vacation" was serving as a flight attendant on a military transport to Japan. She is survived by her daughter, Starr Kane Allen (Phillip); granddaughter, Michelle Marianne Turr (Stephen); three great-granddaughters, Monika Vakulchik (Christopher), Juliet Ashton and Nicole Cronin. Her final days were brightened by visits from her grandchildren and her two great-grandchildren Stephen and Elena Ashton. We will remember and cherish the time we all spent with this remarkable woman. In honoring her wishes there will not be a memorial service. Condolences: www.eptingfuneralhome.webs.com.
