Mary Jean "Jeanie" Strachan

Mary Jean "Jeanie" Strachan, 75, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 after a long battle with Type 1 Diabetes. She was born June 14, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wis. to the late Samuel Strachan and Velma Organ Strachan. In 1953 her family moved from Wisconsin to a farm in the Oak Grove Community where she had many fond memories of attending the school there. After graduating from Springdale High School in 1961 she earned her Bachelors in Education at John Brown University in 1965. She began her teaching career in Kansas City but returned to NWA where she taught 34 years in Rogers at Northside and Grace Hill. When she wasn't teaching she enjoyed spending time with friends, traveling, antiquing, and going to craft fairs. She regularly attended Bible study and loved singing in her church choir at First Baptist Rogers. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and was the founding member of the Rogers Culture Club. She is survived by her siblings, Stephen Strachan and wife Paula of Lavaca, Linda Carnes and husband David of Springdale, Brian Strachan and wife Tammie of Decatur; nieces Gretchen Watt and husband Brian of Springdale, and Laura Dietrich and husband Charles of Bentonville; and 17 great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Pastor Stacey Looney officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.siscofuneral.com.
