Larry Mack Garner passed from this life on Sunday, April 8, 2018, from natural causes. He was at home under the care of Dierksen Hospice and his family. He was born March 16, 1940 in Spring Hill, Ark., to Howard Turner Garner and Ella Ree Suzie McDowell. He married his wife of 55 years, Gayle Berniece McNeal, in Paris, Ark., on April 14, 1963. After graduating high school from Spring Hill, Ark., Larry graduated with a BA in social psychology from Southern State College, now Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Ark. He also earned an MBA from the University of Denver, Colo. For 18 years, he and his family lived in Colorado, where he was a regional supervisor for the Colorado Department of Human Services; after which they moved back to Hope, Ark., where he purchased his summer job company, Hollis Heating and Air Conditioning. He was also co-owner of the ladies' dress shop Main Fashions alongside his wife, Gayle. There was much discussion over who got to be president. He was happiest surrounded by his siblings, his kids and grandkids, and his cousins. He loved their visits and he loved to play bridge. One of his many wonderful doctors and nurses over the years has said many times, "He is a lovely man." He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Gayle McNeal Garner, his grandson Forrest Gregory Garner, and a brother Roy Walter Garner. He is survived by two sons, Gregory Mack Garner and Jennifer of Springdale, Ark., and Larry Trent Garner of Fayetteville, Ark., one daughter Holly Renée Bobo and Doug of Hope, Ark.; six grandchildren, Glenn McNeal Garner, Summer Gayle Garner, Sara Beth Bobo, Dori Ann Bobo and fiance` Joseph Guerra, Webb Matthew Bobo, and Katherine (Katie) Leigh Smith; two great-grandsons, Jeremiah and Tristan; three brothers, Lane and Corinne Garner of Hope, Ronnie and Annette Garner of Bryant, Ark., Montie and Donna Garner of Hope; two sisters, Marsha Cochran of Bryant, Ark., and Shelia Griffin and Bill of Fulton, Ark.; and a great host of cousins and precious friends. Larry requested no funeral service; instead he donated his body to UAMS for medical study, after which he will be cremated and buried at Huckabee Cemetery in Spring Hill, Ark. Memorials can be given to The United Methodist Church of Spring Hill, Ark., or Arkansas Children's Hospital. Please feel free to contact his family so we can celebrate his life with you.
