Ricky Lynn Pearce

Ricky Lynn Pearce, 67, passed away September 8, 2017, in Little Rock. He was born March 31, 1950, in Magnolia, Arkansas, to Dorothy Johnson Pearce and Wesley Frank Pearce. His paternal grandparents were James Franklin and Kate Smith Pearce of the Philadelphia community, Columbia County Arkansas. His maternal grandparents were Nancy Phillips Johnson and Jacob Frolic Johnson of Village, Arkansas. Ricky grew up in the Philadelphia community, attended public schools in Magnolia and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1968. He graduated from Hendrix College with a major in physics in 1972. During the Viet Nam War he served as a conscientious objector in a U. S. Army medic unit. After his military service he earned a Masters of Science in statistics at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. During his career he worked at the Record Ranch and White Dog Records in Fayetteville, managed a B. Dalton Bookstore in Oklahoma City and worked in sales at J.C. Penny in Little Rock. For many years he was a statistician in the Medicare Medical Review Department of Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Little Rock. He retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield in 2012. Ricky had a life-long love of many types of music. During his retirement he had begun teaching himself music theory. He was widely read in science fiction, adept in computer languages and programming and enjoyed keeping up with technological innovations. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Larry W. Pearce (Pam) of Fayetteville, two nephews, David L. Pearce (Jessica Kenyon) of Durango, Colorado, and John A. Pearce (Marica Porter) of McKinleyville, California. Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Magnolia with Rev. Wayne Edwards and Rev. William Briant presiding. Before the service visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. A graveside service will follow in the Philadelphia United Methodist Church cemetery.
