Rachel Atkinson

Heaven became a little richer on October 19th, 2017 as Rachel Atkinson passed from this earth. To all who knew her, she was the embodiment of love, and will be sorely missed by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and her many, many friends. Rachel was brought up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and fell in love with a local war hero, Eddie Atkinson. They married soon after WWII and began quite the adventure together, raising five children and traveling the world. This traveling can take a toll on families, but Rachel's love bonded the family through good times and bad. She always made each new house a home where her children felt safe…and loved. Her homes became renowned by extended families and friends as a welcome place to celebrate holidays and hospitality and where all were welcomed. She joins in Heaven her husband Eddie and her son Ross, along with her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her daughters and son and their spouses, Pam and Chuck Parkes, Jo and Norm Jones, Karen Mauer, and Jim and Jule Atkinson, along with 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). While we grieve the loss of such a beautiful soul from our midst, we rejoice in the many fond memories we have of Rachel and her loving nature that made us all better human beings. Her loving legacy will be passed down for many generations to come. We miss you, Mom and know you'll always be loved. Services will be held at First Christian Church, Rogers, Arkansas on Saturday, October 28 at 10 a.m. The family requests no flowers, instead donations to First Christian Church would be appreciated.
