Sara Katherine "Kathy" Chirnside of Centerton passed away on October 2, 2017. She was born on August 6, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas to the late Lorine and D.C. Alverson. Kathy grew up in central Missouri and moved out west with her family for several years before settling down in Northwest Arkansas the fall of 1987. Kathy enjoyed bowling on several leagues over the years. Her hobbies included anything to do with the outside such as gardening and yard work. She loved planting and showing off her flowers. She enjoyed the holidays, decorating and dressing up for Halloween. Spreading Christmas joy with decorations was something she looked forward to every year. Kathy loved to sing. She always had a song on the tip of her tongue and a tradition of singing loud and proud. Kathy was known for her hospitality, she never met a stranger and her home was open to all the neighborhood kids throughout the years. Her most important calling in life was being a mother and wife to the ones she loved most. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gerald "Jerry" Chirnside. Her three children, Gail Chirnside of Muskogee, OK, Mickey Chirnside of Tulsa, Okla. and Kelly Mar and her husband Andy Mar of Bella Vista, Ark. Her three brothers Buddy Alverson of Brunswick, Mo., Donnie Alverson of Fulton, Mo., and Johnnie Alverson of Gardner, Kan., five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorine and D.C. Alverson, her sister, Lola Smith and her granddaughter, Rebekah Danielle Chirnside. A brief celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 7 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. An informal visitation will follow until 5 p.m. Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.
