Donna Natalie McCormick Farmer, daughter of Wesley and Edythe McCormick, was born February 16, 1932, at the home of her grandparents, Harry and Cora McCormick in Canton, Oklahoma. She moved with her parents to Custer City at the age of 3. She attended all of her public school years there. Her interests were her studies, writing stories, and music. She sang in various musical groups at school and in the church choir. She graduated in May 1950. Attending Southwestern State College at Weatherford, Okla., she majored in elementary education, with minors in English and journalism. She graduated in July 1953. She was a kindergarten teacher, substitute teacher, church organist, Sunday school teacher and church secretary. She was active in school activities in Yellville with her three children; she also cared for two foster children and four exchange students. She was a hospital and nursing home volunteer, active in a literary club and in church women's groups. She liked to travel and write journals of her travels. At retirement, she moved back to Weatherford to return to her roots and renew ties with her family, friends and church. In 2008 she moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas to be closer to her handicapped son Danny, and her two grandsons. She enjoyed crocheting gifts for people, weaving an ongoing blessing into each one. In recent years, she volunteered at the Adult Wellness Center in Rogers, where she taught a crochet class, attended writing workshops, and visited with other patrons over many a cup of coffee. Donna entered the Church Triumphant on a Sunday morning. She is survived by daughter, Sarah Farmer Earll and her husband Bryan of Monrovia, Calif.; son, Don Farmer and his wife Anne and two grandsons, Paul and Tim; brother, Michael McCormick and his wife Laura of Weatherford.
