Hettie Marie Harris

Hettie Marie Harris, 92 of Rogers passed away Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017. She was born Nov. 22, 1924 in Centerville, Ark., to the late Elbert Lindsey McNew and Ethel Blair McNew. For more than 50 years she was the loving wife of Gene Harris who preceded her. Following high school graduation she achieved her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA) and pursued her Masters at the University of Arkansas. Hettie began her career as a teacher of home economics and head of school cafeterias for Rogers Public School before her second career, as a loving mother and homemaker. She enjoyed golf, rug hooking, gardening knitting and playing bridge. For more than 55 years she was a member of Chapter U of PEO and was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church in Rogers. Survivors include her children, Susan Stoltz (Steve) of Colorado and Paul Harris (Tami) of Fayetteville; her grandchildren, Jeff Stoltz (Jaci) of Virginia, Drew Stoltz (Marissa) of Arizona, Daniel Harris (Amanda) and Suzanne Harris all of Fayetteville; her great-grandson, Jackson Harris Stoltz of Virginia; a sister, Colleen Owen of Russellville; numerous extended family members, her church family and dear friends. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 in the Chapel of Central United Methodist Church in Rogers. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Central United Methodist Church, 2535 W. New Hope Rd., Rogers, Ark. 72758 or Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village, 901 Jones Rd., Springdale, Ark. 72762. Arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
