Iris Darlene Bates

Iris Darlene Bates, a resident of Springdale, Arkansas passed from this life on May 11, 2017 in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born November 24, 1933 in Noel, Missouri to Glenn and Mary Helton. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Bates and her parents. Left to cherish Iris' memory are her children, Sherrie Bayles and her husband, Charles of Springdale and Ron Bates and his wife, Carlene of Springdale; her sister, Joan Vance of Dover, Arkansas; her brother, Marion Helton of Dover, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Sara Bayles, Christopher Bayles, Denton Bates, and Madison Bates; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews across the United States. Iris will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, "Granie" and friend. She enjoyed traveling and especially loved attending her grandchildren's events. She adored her dog, Jasmine. Iris worked for the City of Springdale for 30 years and served as the Deputy City Clerk for over 20 years. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home, Springdale, Arkansas. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2017 at Agape Fellowship, Springdale, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Bluff Cemetery, Springdale.
