Derrick Alan Hammond

Derrick Alan Hammond, 35, of Springdale, Ark., passed from this life March 24, 2017 in Springdale. He was born Jan. 9, 1982 in Springdale to Ricky and Janice (Hollowell) Hammond. He is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, J.B. and Clara Tarkington; maternal grandmother, Dorothy (Hollowell) Carpenter; and paternal grandparents, Bob and LaVaughn Hammond. Derrick is survived by his parents; his brothers, Jeremy Hammond and Ricky Hammond and his wife, Teresa; his nieces, Kinley Hammond and Michaele Pennington; many aunts, uncles, cousins, close loved ones and friends. Derrick was a member of Westside Free Will Baptist Church in Springdale. He was an accomplished athlete, earning All Conference and All State Football honors for the Springdale Bulldogs in 2000. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and sportsman. Derrick had a winning personality—he never met a stranger, always had a smile on his face, and was a true salesman. Most of all, he loved his family dearly. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2017 at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home in Springdale. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Westside Free Will Baptist Church in Springdale with Rev. Paul Payne and Rev. Walter Vanderlip officiating.
