Rogers Lipe Overbey

Rogers Lipe Overbey of Edmond, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Rogers was born May 24, 1935 in Charleston, Arkansas to Harold and Prue Overbey. He was 82 years old. He was a graduate of Ozark High School and the University of Arkansas where he was a Razorback letterman in both football and baseball. This is where he met and married his sweetheart of 60 years, Marcia Jean Edgerly, of Tulsa. Rogers served briefly in the Army and was retired from Southwestern Bell after 35 years. He and Marcia raised their family in Little Rock and later retired in Fayetteville. In 2001, Rogers and Marcia moved to Edmond. Rogers loved God's Word, loved his family and of course, loved the Razorbacks. He will be remembered as a treasured husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Marcia, of Edmond; his daughter: Lesli Overbey McElrath and husband Richard of Angola, Indiana; his son: Scot Rogers Overbey and wife, Kym of Edmond; 7 adoring grandchildren, Nathan, Will, Anna Ruth, Emily, John Scot, George and Grace; and one precious great-grandchild, Benaiah. He is also survived by three sisters: Pat Blanton, of Amarillo; Norma Jean Bearden of Scranton and Betty Plugge of Scranton. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Lamar Cemetery, under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville, Arkansas.
