Merle Cole, 86, of Springdale, died Friday, June 2, 2017 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born Sept. 29, 1930 in the Weathers Community to William Jefferson and Cordelia Snow McFarland Eaton. Merle enjoyed company. Her door was always open and the coffee pot always on. She was devoted to her Christian faith, her family, and church. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Bowen and husband Harold of Springdale; a son, Rick Cole also of Springdale; three grandchildren, Shelly Sanders and husband Scotty, Mark Bowen and wife Dawnna, Lyndsey Froud and husband Dean; seven great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Kyler, Kamryn, Maeleigh, Klayton, Hudson, Emmary; in-laws, Orabell, J.C., Jesse, Clifford; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis "Johnny" Cole in 2000, a son-in-love, Bernard Eaton; three brothers, Oris, Vernon, Earl; and three sisters, Dorothy, Dovie and Eula. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Old Bethel Cemetery in Red Star. Arrangements are with Heritage Funeral Home, online guestbook at www.heritageofnwa.com.
