Edwin "Fast Eddie" Doyle Harper, 62, passed away on January 10, 2017 at his home in West Fork, AR. with family by his side after his long battle with illness. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Pamela, of 36 years; his daughter, Pam Kaney and husband, Ben; his sons, Josh Harper and wife, Angela and Brad Harper and wife, Jordan; six grandchildren, Avery and Alex Kaney, Mary Lou and Brentley Engler and Rachel and Noah Harper. In his early years, Ed enjoyed racing motorcycles. Among many jobs he had, he was a disc jockey for 25 years at several night clubs in Fayetteville and Oklahoma. He got a thrill out of dirt track racing and loved working at Thunder Valley Speedway for over 15 years. He enjoyed racing there and at other local tracks and loved the people and all the dirt. Ed was also track promoter at Joplin and Monett Speedways for some time, too. In his later years, he worked as I.T. supervisor for a local architecture firm PB2. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. Ed took pleasure in cooking, especially barbecuing and could likely be found tinkering in the garage with just about anything he could get his hands on; but his true love was spending time with his kids and grandkids, whether it was going on a Boy Scout camping trip or having a family dinner, Ed was always ready for a good time. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Beard's Chapel. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Beard's Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Willard Walker Hospice Home, 325 E. Longview St, Fayetteville, Ark.. 72703. Condolences at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.
