Joyce Ilene Bennett, 91, of Rogers, Ark. died January 5, 2017, at Innisfree Nursing Home. She was born April 3, 1925, in Bass, Arkansas to John Henry Curtis and Verda McCutcheon Curtis. Joyce married W.H. (Bill) Bennett on June 23, 1945, in Little Rock, Ark. and moved to Oakland, CA. She had lived in Rogers since 1971, moving from Walnut Creek, Calif. Joyce was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Rogers. She loved children (and they loved her), and she enjoyed working at Green Valley Bible Camp during the summer for many years. She loved to sing and enjoyed singing with the church group that sang at area nursing homes. Joyce and her husband, Bill, owned and operated the Conoco in Rogers for 26 years. She was also employed as the cafeteria manager at East Side and West Side Schools, before her retirement in the early 90's to care for her husband after his stroke. She tirelessly and lovingly cared for her husband, with the strength she said the Lord gave her, until his death in 2006. Joyce was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. (Bill) Bennett; her son, Wayne Bennett; and a son-in-law, Jerry Dossey. Joyce is survived by a son, Tom Bennett (Kathy) of Rogers, Ark.; two daughters, Linda Dossey of Bella Vista, Ark. and Betsy Bennett of Fayetteville, Ark. She was "Nanny" to five grandchildren, Jason D. Bennett of Knoxville, Tenn. Bradley Rooney of Bella Vista, Ark. Jesse Bennett (Robin) of Bentonville, Ark., Jennifer Frenzel (Bryan) of Atlanta, Ga. and Grant Parsons of Fayetteville, Ark. They were "her blessings" and they all knew it. Nanny also had seven great-grandchildren, "more blessings", Ashlynn Bennett, Jackson Bennett, Jason W. Bennett, Tyler Bennett, Stevie Rogers, Isla Frenzel and Evelyn Frenzel. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017 at Southside Church of Christ in Rogers with Jackie Chesnutt officiating.
