Bob Sayles

Bob Sayles, 85, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. He was born March 13, 1931 in Jonesboro, Ark. He lived in Imboden, Ark., for most of his youth. He was baptized in the Spring River as a member of the Church of Christ. He loved helping his grandfather Albert Edward Johnson in his bicycle and gun shop in Imboden. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1953 where he was a flight engineer. He was a member of the Christian Church "Disciples of Christ" in Branson, Missouri. He loved his Bible. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Sue Chandley; parents, Elmer and Mary Johnson Sayles; grandson, Jamie Hemingway; daughter-in-law, Karen Sayles; brother, George Sayles; and a sister, Mary Lou Wilson. He is survived by his children, Susan Hemingway and husband, Doug, John Sayles and wife, Juddie and Perry Sayles and wife, Beth. His grandchildren are Kimberly, Christie, Jenny, Rachel, Darren, Sarah, Mandy and Jake; many great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Jeanette and Eunice. He worked for Walmart for over ten years and was the number one associate in the nation for his department 82. He was the owner of Bee Gee Windchimes which were sold all over the world. Dad loved people and always remembered them. He also loved gardening and fishing. His dream was to be a doctor. A memorial service will be at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, to honor Mr. Sayles, life and service, please direct memorial gifts to UAMS Northwest campus, 1125 N.
