Olen Edward Reynolds, 86, of south Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017. He was born in Japton on September 30, 1930. Olen, known to all as "Shorty", went to be with the Lord and his best friend and wife of 60 years, Willetta, "Willie" on what would have been their 61st wedding anniversary. In Heaven, Shorty will also be reunited with his parents, William Gallon Reynolds and Zora Katherine Dudgeon Reynolds and eight brothers and sisters. Charlie Reynolds, Frank Reynolds, Oma Cleo Morehouse, Jewell Paschal, Maxine McCullah, Harvey Reynolds, Bessie Davidson and William "Willie" Reynolds. He will also be welcomed by son-in-law, Steven Cupps and many other loved ones. He was a member of Baptist Ford Church, in Greenland. Shorty will be dearly missed by his five children and three children-in-law, Frances and Woodrow Johnson of Bokoshe, Oklahoma, Lloyd "Butch" and Cathy Mounce of Gainesville, Texas, Debbie and Mike Clevenger of Farmington, Rita Cupps of Sherwood and Troy Reynolds of Fayetteville. Olen is "Grandpa Shorty" to 11 grandchildren, Sammy Johnson and Shannon Johnson of Bokoshe, Michelle Nicole Mounce Boley, of Texas, Stephanie Mounce Newman of Farmington, Keegan Mounce of Texas, Tina Clevenger King and Chip Clevenger of Farmington, Robert Cupps of Cabot, Becky Cupps Sparks of Bryant, Zach Patterson and Troy Reynolds, Jr. of Springdale. He has 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. His two remaining brothers and their wives, Claude Ray and Margaret Reynolds of Garden City, Kansas and Doyle and Alma Lou Reynolds of Greenland were dear to him. Shorty lived 32 years of his life on the U of A Farm, where he started in 1965, working his way up to Foreman. In 1998, after moving off the farm he attempted to retire, but the farm needed his talents and knowledge and he needed to continue working with his farm family. He was master mower until early fall 2016. He dedicated over 50 years of his life to the University. Live bluegrass music, dancing jigs, yard sales, telling stories of all kinds, cooking the best turkey and dressing in the world and many other interests brought much joy and countless friends into Olen's life. He was a man of strength and personality that made people love him. Shorty is a great loss to all who knew him. Visitation will be 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Moore's Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday at Baptist Ford Community Church in Greenland. Olen will be buried at Baptist Ford Cemetery beside Willetta, all of their parents and many other family members.
