Louann J. Carlson

Louann J. Carlson was born to her parents, Mildred M. Lewis (Parks) and James H. Lewis in their family home on a snowy March 31, 1931 in Wichita, Kan. She was the youngest of nine children. She passed away on Feb. 15, 2017 in Rogers, Ark., where she lived with her husband, Jimmy Carlson. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father and two siblings, Frank Lewis and Oleta Yost. Louann had a passion for reading, loved watching sporting events, and traveling with her husband, Jimmy, whom she went to High School with at East High in Wichita, Kan., and then became reacquainted while she was working at Enmar Paint Company as an Executive Secretary. Before working at Enmar, Louann was the Executive Secretary for the Treasurer at The Coleman Company. She had the honor of being the alternate Secretary for Mr. Coleman himself when his Secretary was on leave. Louann and her husband also were very involved in the Northwest Arkansas Schimitar Shrine Organization, including 15 years supporting her husband Jim's endeavors of running the Shrine Circus, directly benefitting the Shriner Hospitals for Children. Jimmy and Lou were married on Dec. 6, 1958 at University Methodist Church in Wichita, Kan., by C. M. Fogleman, one of their favorite people. During their 58 years together, they lived in Wichita, Kan., then moved to Houston, Texas, St. Louis, Mo., and Olathe, Kan., as Jimmy's responsibilities increased as a Truck Line Executive. They raised three children; Jimmy Ross Carlson of Seattle, Wash.,; Perry Carlson of Kansas City, Mo., and Claire Billingsley of Dallas, Texas. Louann is survived by her husband, her three children, four grandchildren, and four siblings; Evelyn Jackson, Margie Harvey, Willadean Maclean and Mid Ayesh. The family invites you to share a celebration of life on Feb. 26, 2017 from at 2 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home 1401 W. Hudson Road Rogers, Ark.
