Samuel Stephens (Steve) DuVall, age 67, was born to eternal life on Feb. 10, 2017 at Washington Regional Hospice. He was born Jan. 24, 1950 in El Dorado, Ark., the son of Harold Raymond and Dorothy May Ayers Duvall. He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest brother, Michael Raymond (Mike) Duvall of Long Beach, California. He graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1968 and from the University of Arkansas in 1972 with a degree in Public Administration. He joined the Peace Corps and was drafted into the U.S. Army. As a Conscientious Objector, he served as a medical specialist at the Letterman Army Institute of Research in San Francisco, California, until Dec. of 1974. He married Tommie Barnes, their daughter was born Aug. 26, 1976. After his divorce, he raised Carmen and her brother Paul, in Manassas, Va., from 1986 to 1994, and then in Fayetteville, Ark. He worked in the camera department of Byrd Pre-Press, in Springfield, Virginia and managed that department for 15 years. Afterwards he founded a desktop publishing firm, Trinity Rivers Publishing, Inc. Steve believed that the arc of history bends slowly towards justice for all, not that every man receives his due, but that everyone and every creature is loved and cherished. Jesus, the God of love, was his guiding light. He loved his family and his many friends, and in return is greatly loved and missed. He is survived by his older brothers Ruud Land (Rudy) Duvall of Fayetteville, Daniel Duvall of Gainesville, Georgia; his daughter Carmen and husband Bruce Tromp and their sons Cary, Ethan, and Owen; his son Paul and wife Dasha, and their children Bradley and Emily; and his grandson, Julian, by his first wife. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m-5p.m Wednesday Feb. 15 at Moore's Chapel. Graveside Service will be 10a.m Thursday at Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
