Erin Marie Watkins

Erin Marie Watkins, 33, of Rogers, Arkansas, returned to the arms of our Heavenly Father on Friday, January 27, 2017. Erin was the only child of John and Lori Watkins (Hantelman) and was born on December 23, 1983. Erin was an avid learner, constantly seeking out new educational opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. She held a dual B.S. in Agricultural and Animal Sciences and a Nursing Degree. Erin's passion for animal welfare kept her busy throughout college and beyond. She also served on the board of Spay Arkansas to continue her work with animals while becoming a Cardiac Nurse at Mercy Hospital. In the fall of 2016, Erin returned to work in the field of Veterinary Medicine. Erin was passionate, selfless, and driven in everything she did. She undertook every project, adventure, and friendship with a fierce loyalty and compassionate heart. Erin was an active, successful businesswoman whether it was working with animals, people, or a cause. She committed herself wholeheartedly to whatever was at hand. The love for her daughter, Sophia Grace, made her heart sing with joy and more so because she got to share this with her best friend and helpmate for life, Jay Houk. Erin is preceded in death by her father, John Anthony Watkins, her paternal grandparents, William and Joan Watkins (Arbuckle). Erin is survived by husband, Jason Houk; beloved daughter, Sophia Grace Houk; her mother, Lori Watkins (Hantelman); her maternal grandparents, Lowell and Nell Hantelman (Elsea) all of Rogers, Arkansas; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church, 805 W. Olrich Rogers, Ark. with Pastor Melissa Ehrhardt. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation be made in Erin's honor to Spay Arkansas, 1909 W. Huntsville Ave, Springdale, Ark. 72762.
