Virginia Marie Long, 73, of Springdale, Arkansas passed from this life on December 3, 2017 at her home. She was born April 27, 1944 in East Chicago, Illinois to H.B. and Emma (Murphy) Rice. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Long; her parents; and her beloved brother, Patrick. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda Reddoch, Susan Traywick, Shannon Cook, Tommy Akin, Patrick Myers and Amanda Long; and numerous grandchildren. Ginger was an exceptional woman who played many roles in her life. She was a friend, a mother, a lover of Jesus. She was a quilter, a reader, an artist, and a writer. Her laugh was contagious and the warmth that she radiated could calm the most restless heart. She was so many things to all that knew her. Most of all, Ginger will be remembered for her selfless and giving spirit that touched everyone who knew her. Her ability to love and show kindness was extraordinary. Though she lived by humble means, she never missed an opportunity to encourage and give to others from making quilts for abused women and volunteering at John 3:16 ministries to writing words of encouragement, she was an example of love in its purest form. She left all who knew her forever changed. I love you sweet mama. A Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2017 at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home in Springdale.
