Ruth Carol Nelson, 90, of Rogers, Ark. passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 4, 1926 in Heber City, Utah to Elroy Smith Jones and Josephine Savage. Carol attended school in Heber City, Provo, Price and Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from the University of Utah in 1949, where she earned a B.S. in Foods and Nutrition. While on a date with another young man, she met her future sweetheart, George Helding Nelson. When Carol finished school and an Internship at Philadelphia General Hospital, Carol married her eternal sweetheart, George in the Salt Lake City Temple. To this marriage were born five children, Doug, Arnold, Marjorie, Roy and Naomi. Carol loved being a wife and a stay at home mother to her children. She loved to serve others through her many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved music and was always humming or singing to herself. She especially loved singing in the Ozark Mormon Chorale for Nativity and Noel. We, her family, will miss mom, grandma and "Grandma Great" deeply, but we know she is with her Eternal Companion, George, having a joyous reunion after 30 years apart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, George; two brothers, Philip and Richard Jones and two grandsons. Carol is survived by her five children, Doug (Edie) Nelson, Arnold (Kathy) Nelson, Marjorie Nelson, Roy (Patti) Nelson and Naomi (Kirk) Zebley; two brothers, Elroy (Donna) Jones, Alma (Raya) Jones; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Jones and Clarice Ryskamp; and a brother-in-law, Jack DeMann. The family thanks the Little Flock and Rogers Wards for their love, kindness and support during the last part of mom's life. We are also grateful to her doctors and nurses for their wonderful care and support. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Rogers with a visitation starting at 11:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers. Online condolences may be made to Stockdalefuneral.com.
