Betty Louella Evans VanZandt, 84, of Gateway, went to be with her Lord and Savior April 21, 2017. She was born November 27, 1932 in Lost Springs, Kansas to Willard Gordon Evans and Eva Elizabeth Chadd Evans. She married Edgar VanZandt September 27, 1991 in Miami, Oklahoma and worked for Wendt-Sonis/RTW in Rogers for thirty years. She loved to travel, work in the garden and watch hummingbirds fluttering around. She loved her furry cat friends and wouldn't let any stray go hungry. She enjoyed going with Edgar on the farm to feed the cattle and to see all the baby calves jump around. Betty was a member of the Garfield Church of Christ for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James E. Evans. Survivors are her husband, Edgar VanZandt of the home; a daughter, Shelly Bassham of Fayetteville; two sons, Stephen Bassham of Fayetteville, William Bassham and wife Florence of Bella Vista; two step-daughters, Cindy VanZandt Smith and husband Robert of Pea Ridge, Lesa Vanzandt Lohman and husband Louis of Garland, Texas; three sisters, Deborah Wade of Boyd, Texas, Faith Lovell of Ft. Worth, Texas and Gail Casteen of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sister-in-law, Beverly Evans of Lake Worth, Texas; four grandchildren, Heather Thompson and husband John, Melissa Burnett and husband Joshua, Leah Brammer and Amber Lohman; four great-grandchildren, Tinsley, Avery, Trinity and Payton. Service is set for 1 p.m. Friday, April 28 at Garfield Church of Christ with Bobby Vaughn officiating. Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. Burial will be in Buttram Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 27 at the funeral home.
