William Gordon Sherret Jr.

William Gordon Sherret Jr., of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was born November 15, 1923, La Grange, Illinois, son of William Gordon and Agnes (Hill) Sherret. He departed this life Friday, April 21, 2017 in Fayetteville at the age of 93 years. William proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and retired after twenty years of service as a Major. He was a lifetime member of the Rotary International and a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Eureka Springs until he moved to Fayetteville. He was a NOAA weather station operator on his property for twenty years. He built and repaired clocks for forty years at the Chigger Ridge Tinker Clock Works, earning him the name as the "Chigger Ridge Tinker." He loved to fly and especially loved his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Carol House of Fayetteville and Gail Cavendor and husband, Phil, of Longmont, Colorado; granddaughter, Jessica Walters of Pottsville, Arkansas; grandson, Evan House of Fayetteville; grandson, Andrew Cavendor of Buffalo, New York and great-granddaughter, Evelyn Cavendor. On December 22, 1945, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Grace (McLane) Sherret who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents, William and Agnes Sherret. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at St. Mark's Cemetery at Hillspeak in Eureka Springs, Arkansas with The Reverend Ben Helmer officiating.
