Russell Yates Porter

Russell Yates Porter, 94, of Bella Vista, died April 16, 2017. He was born February 11, 1923, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma to Zena Yates Porter and Boyd Lycurgis Porter. He grew up in Greenland, Arkansas, and after graduation served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He later moved to Texas where he lived most of his life. He returned to Northwest Arkansas after living many years in Buchanan Dam, Texas in 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Myrl Webb Porter, a son, Thomas Yates Porter, brothers Phillip Porter and Gene Porter and a sister, Mary Ann Smith of Dallas, Texas. He is survived by brothers George Porter of Bentonville, Arkansas and Don Porter of Denton, Texas. He is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Throughout his life Russell believed in giving full dedication to his work, family, friends and to his church. There will be a private family memorial service at a later date.
