Doreen Jean Martin, 62, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 in Decatur, Ark. She was born June 17, 1954 in Watertown, N.Y., to Alonzo C. Walts Jr. and Jean Peltzer Walts. She was raised on the Walts Family Dairy Farm in Evans Mills, N.Y., where she was taught the value of hard work and learned many life skills that made her a wonderful wife and mother. Everyone that met Doreen and her husband, Robert, knew that their lives were guided by the Spirits of their Ancestral American Indian Traditions and old fashioned ways. She loved and cared for the earth, gardened and always preserved each year's harvest. She, together with her husband, son and daughter owned and operated Jr's Plumbing out of Rogers, Ark. Doreen worked at the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport for over five years making wonderful pastries and breads for the restaurants there. She never met a stranger, made many friends and was loved and respected by both the airport staff and the regular travelers. Doreen is survived by her loving, faithful husband of 37 years, Robert Martin; son, Jason Martin; daughter, Shannon Dixon; three grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Darlene McMahon and many extended family and special friends. She will be dearly missed by them all. A celebration of Doreen's life will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at Eastside Assembly of God, 9559 Hwy 72, Bentonville, Ark. 72712 with Pastor Robert Ward officiating. As Doreen would want, Robert hopes all the ladies will wear bright summer dresses and that the men will wear colorful shirts. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
