Jacquelin "Jackie" Kellogg, age 83, died October 6, 2016, attended by loving family, at the Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Catoosa, Oklahoma, of Alzheimer's disease. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, she was born June 10, 1933, the daughter of Forest C. and Lolita Garcia Nelson. She loved her birthplace, especially its food, culture, and music. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary and Junior High School, then graduated from St. Mary's Dominican High School. Later, she resided in Lafayette, La., from 1957 to 1961, and from 1963 to 1970. While there, she attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and Our Lady of Wisdom, at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. She also attended the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in those early years. She lived in Fayetteville, Ark., from 1970 to 2014. She had a love of learning and continued to take courses at the University of Arkansas over the years. Jacquelin is preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. "Dick" Kellogg, Professor Emeritus, University of Arkansas. They were married in New Orleans, June 3, 1953. In their new life together, his military tour of duty required frequent relocation. Consequently, all of their children were born in different states. They lived in NYC while he pursued a Master's degree in architecture from Columbia University, residing in a small apartment with their five young children. Here, she grew to love the city, theater, and jazz. As a professor's wife, she often entertained. She was a wonderful cook with gracious hospitality. Her devotion to great family gatherings included memorable family camping vacations each year. She and her husband enjoyed walking in the woods around Mt. Sequoyah. In retirement, they traveled to many exotic locales, including China, Turkey and Egypt. As an avid reader, she participated in a local book club. A love of the arts led to volunteer work at local theaters, and the Walton Arts Center. She possessed a true servant's heart, and lived her Catholic faith. In Fayetteville, she attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she served the church as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing Communion to those unable to attend services. She will be missed, and warmly remembered by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lolita "Tootie" Nelson; one brother, Forest Nelson; and a son, Douglas Kellogg. She is survived by a sister, Caroyl Zulli of Carriere, Miss.; by four children, Michael Kellogg of Cross Plains, Wis., Thomas Kellogg of Euless, Texas, Clyde Kellogg of Winchester, Va., and Linn Tomlinson of Catoosa, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Adam and Eric Tomlinson, Buckminster and Allegra Kellorgg, Laurel Kellogg Wilson, Colin Kellogg, and Sarah Hamilton; and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Ava Hamilton. The pallbearers will be her sons, Mike, Tom and Clyde Kellogg; and grandsons, Adam and Eric Tomlinson, and Bucky Kellorgg. Her life celebration will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Saturday, October 22, 2016, with visitation from 11 a.m. – 12 noon, and funeral Mass following at 12 noon. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 3639 East Mission Boulevard, Fayetteville, Ark., under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
