Bruce Wayne Shaner

Bruce Wayne Shaner, born in Abeline, Kan., May 16, 1955, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Sept. 30, 2016. You may not understand what that means, but to him and his sons, it meant everything. In his eyes it never mattered how you looked, or how you were perceived, as long as you loved and respected your friends and family, and took care of those in need. As a proud Rogers High School Mountie, Bruce held the school's rushing record for over twenty years, and he loved music with a passion, leading him to personally fund his son Caleb's band V.O.W. to record their first album. His humor, his sarcastic wit, his love and his laugh, they will never cease to be, and whether turning wrenches with his oldest son Matt or tuning guitars with Caleb, neither will the memories. "Cherish your parents. Even in sorrow and anger. Because they are the ones who give you the blank page, and the story to write." E.L.. Bruce is survived by two sons, Matthew Wayne and Caleb Samuel, grand-daughters Jordan Nicole and Destiny Anne, grandson Colt Thomas, and siblings Barbara and Paul Gronlie of Hot Springs, Charlotte and Ed Doyle, of Manhattan, Kan., and Ken and Connie Shaner of Bella Vista. Per Bruce's wishes, a private wake will be held for friends and family. Arrangements by Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers.
