Thomas Tanner Sisk

Thomas (Tom) Tanner Sisk passed away at age 88 after a long illness, in Gulfport, Miss. on Tuesday Nov. 1, 2016. Tom was born on March 15, 1928 in Detroit, Mich., to Clinton and Easter (nee Rapp) Sisk. When Tom was four the family to southern Illinois where Tom attended grammar and high school in El Dorado. He enlisted in the Navy just after completing his high school courses. He served aboard the Valley Forge for over two years and at the end of the war he received his honorable discharge and returned to El Dorado. He later moved to Chicago and started on the ground floor of the trucking industry, starting by gassing and parking big rigs. Over the years he had many promotions leading to becoming shop manager for White Motor Company. By the time Tom retired he had become National Accounts Sales Manager at Kysor Corp, a company which manufactured components for the trucking industry. Two years prior to retirement Tom, and his then wife, Shirley, moved to Rogers near Beaver Lake. Shirley passed away in 2007. In 2008 Tom married Bernice Andrews, who had bought the house next door after retiring as a Registered Nurse in 2006 from East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie. La. Tom and Bernice enjoyed travel in the US and internationally, going to Roger's Little Theater or just relaxing at home. Tom was an avid golfer and was privileged to play The Old Course in Scotland. In 2015 Tom and Bernice bought a townhome on the 18th fairway on the Pines Course in Diamondhead, Miss., so Tom could enjoy playing more often. They were going to be "Snow Birds', returning to Rogers each year during hurricane season. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Bernice and children, Joe Sisk of Rogers, Cyndi Hatley of Chicago and Sally Jones of Little Rock. Grandchildren, Jennifer Kolaski of Chicago, Robert Bergmann of Clearwater, Christina Bergmann of Rockford, Michael Sisk, Sara Jones and Nicholas Jones of Little Rock; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom is also survived by two stepdaughters who adored him, K. Kimberly Andrews-Cook and Laura H. Andrews-Clark, six step-grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. A dinner celebrating Tom's life will be held at 6 p.m. on Dec. 3, 2016 at Corona's Restaurant on Highway 12 in Prairie Creek. All family, friends and neighbors are invited to attend and to bring photos and memories to share.
