Dennis T. Officer, age 64, died Nov. 18, 2016 in Fayetteville, Ark. Born Jan. 19, 1952 to the late Jerry W. Officer and Dolores Officer Pickard (née King). As a member of a military family, he lived in many places but eventually settled in Pine Bluff, Ark. He graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1970. He graduated from Hendrix College with a BA in Economics in 1974 and earned a Ph.D. in Finance at the University of Arkansas. He married Nancy Officer (née Roles) May 20, 1978 and had two children, Katherine and Stewart. He was on the faculty in the departments of finance at the University of Arkansas, Arizona State University and finally the University of Kentucky. He founded Lexington Research and Capital Group in 1995. After 28 years in Lexington, Ky., he retired from teaching to Fayetteville, Ark., and focused his energies on his wealth management company with his new partner and son, Stewart. He enjoyed working with Stewart and imparting his knowledge to him. While Dennis happily planned retirement for others, his plan was to continue working with Stewart. Dennis was happiest doing for others. He had many clients whom he considered friends first and always focused on their needs. He loved to be found in a duck blind with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Officer, mother Dolores Pickard, and stepfather John (JW) Pickard. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Nancy Officer and two children, Katherine (Ryan) Kinsel of Lexington, Ky., and Stewart Officer of Fayetteville, Ark. He is also survived by a sister, Rita Officer of Fayetteville, Ark., sisters-in-law, Vonna Cranston (Fla.), Marcia Bingham (Ark.), and brother-in-law James Roles (Fla.). He had many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. A celebration of life will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 22, 2016 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Ark.
